Abstract One of the most important issues in carbonate reservoirs is petrophysical evaluation, which plays an important role in accurately determining the production zones. In this study, the variability of petrophysical parameters such as permeability, porosity, secondary porosity and water saturation was determined and evaluated. Then, in order to reduce the uncertainty, the results were analyzed and compared with the results of the petrophysical logs obtained from the core. The results were summarized as follows: calcite and dolomite zones have the best reservoir quality, and anhydrite and shale zones have the lowest reservoir quality. The Khatia Formation was divided into two zones, the upper and lower Khatia, with the main lithologies of lime and dolomite and between them clay layers. Also, the Arab formation is divided into six zones with the main lithologies of dolomite and anhydrite. This study investigated one of the oil reservoir wells in the Persian Gulf located in the Bilal oil field and evaluated the information obtained from the mentioned petrophysical parameters obtained from well logs and cores to determine the quality of the reservoir zones.
